City of Calgary Childcare Motion
In July of 2021, Mackenzy's Legacy met with then City Councillor Jyoti Gondek after sending a letter with our vision for increasing safety in childcare. Mayor Gondek put forward a detailed Notice of Motion for Increasing Accessibility to & Safety of Affordable Childcare in Calgary. Below we share that journey.

Telling Our Stories
On July 28, 2022, Jen and Shelby had the privilege of speaking at Calgary City Council. This was an opportunity to share why this motion is such a crucial step forward. Presentation to Council

Public Engagement
Between April 11 - May 1, 2022, a public engagement survey was conducted in Calgary. This survey was open to both parents and childcare providers. A copy of the report can be found here.

Notice of Motion
On July 20, 2021, a Notice of Motion was put forward to Calgary City Council by Councillor Gondek before she was elected as Mayor. This Notice of Motion can be read here.

Discussion Paper
On July 4, 2021, Mackenzy's Legacy sent a discussion paper to Councillor Gondek. This paper outlined our future vision and background information. The discussion paper can be found here.
