Jen Woolfsmith

Co-founder

I’m Jen Woolfsmith.  By day I am a full time Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and Project Management Professional (PMP) with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology who has had the privilege of working for the same company for over 20 years.  My professional career has given me so much and taken me on many adventures, but my greatest adventure comes in the form of my family.  My husband, Dan, and I have 2 amazing boys, Owen and Declan, as well as our beautiful girl, Mackenzy.  In May 2012, Mackenzy passed away after suffering devastating injuries at her dayhome and became an organ donor.  Since her death I have worked as a passionate advocate for organ donation awareness, as well as a patient partner in organ donation research at the federal and international level.  In 2018, Dan and I were active participants in Mackenzy's fatality inquiry.  I am committed to ensuring that safe and high-quality childcare is available for all our kids in our province, regardless of the childcare setting.  That is Mackenzy’s Legacy.

Shelby Stewart

Co-founder

I’m Shelby Stewart.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Calgary.  Shortly after completing this I began a career in public service, where I have been for the last 14 years.  I am incredibly fortunate to be the Mom of 2 wonderful boys, Charlie and Theo,  and the step-mom of 2 amazing boys, Mikah and Henry.  I am married to Roland and our life has always been full of the adventures that raising 4 boys brings.  After going through an investigation and trial from a victim’s perspective it has allowed me the unique opportunity to step into the role of advocating for safer childcare in Alberta.  I am incredibly proud to be a co-founder of Mackenzy’s Legacy and working towards enhancing quality and safety for all children.
